Zanotta's Sciangai coat stand turns fifty and is presented in a new edition with bright and vivid colours.
The Sciangai, with its simple and playful operation but at the same time
iconic and original at the same time, in 1979 it received the Compasso
d'Oro, the oldest and most prestigious world design award
in addition to being exhibited, like many other works of the DDL group,
in the collections of the main museums of design and contemporary art
of the world, including the MoMA in New York, the Kunstgewerbemuseum
of Berlin and the Triennale Museum in Milan.
The coat hanger, together with other objects that are symbols of design

2000 theme of the Italian Post stamps, dedicated
to the History of Design.

For the fiftieth anniversary, the architects Calvi and Brambilla
– new Art Directors of the company from 2023 – recovering
an original sketch found in De Pas's studio, D'Urbino,
Lomazzi, have launched Sciangai 50, a special numbered but unlimited edition.
In this version the playful and fun concept that is
at the base of the product is further enhanced by the bright colours
and pop of the eight lacquered beech wood strips from which
it is composed.
Red, yellow, green, blue, pink, orange, fuchsia, light blue are
the bright and vivid colors that appear in the designers' sketch,
shaping the idea of inserting into a domestic environment,
a rebellious and provocative touch with a sure aesthetic impact.
With its characteristic shape and immediate reference to the
world of board games, Shanghai has become one of the
most recognizable furnishing accessories not only from Zanotta but
also of Italian design. Despite the years, Shanghai does not
it never goes out of style and the company has continued to produce it for 50 years;
