The Taccia table lamp is far more than a simple lighting fixture: it is a genuine sculpture of light that redefines any interior space. Conceived in 1962 by the visionary minds of Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni and produced by Flos, Taccia represents an absolute masterpiece of Italian industrial design. The designers' original concept called for a plastic diffuser, but the intense heat emitted by the light sources of the era deformed the material; Flos brilliantly solved the issue by crafting a deep, magnificent bowl in mouth-blown transparent glass. This glass diffuser rests on a fluted, cylindrical extruded aluminum base reminiscent of a classical Doric column, topped by a spun aluminum reflector painted gloss white on the inside and matte on the outside, which shields the light source and distributes illumination evenly.
