Lampe Gras 215 black
In 1921, Bernard-Albin Gras created a range of lamps for industry
and design offices. La Lampe Gras is remarkable for its ergonomics
and the simplicity of its mechanics – no screws, no welding – giving
it unparalleled robustness. Very quickly, Le Corbusier, captivated by
the modernity of its design and its usability, adopted La Lampe Gras
range and integrated it into his agency as well as in his numerous
projects around the world.
La Lampe Gras then entered the legend. Following Le Corbusier
were Robert Mallet-Stevens, Jacques-Emile Ruhlmann, Eileen Gray,
but also Sonia Delaunay, Georges Braque... It was the first time in
the history of lighting that a lamp was used in workshops, houses,
and apartments.
